Anthony and Gisela proved that November isn’t too late in the year to have a beach wedding. The couple was married in the Herring Bay Gardens, set on the beaches of the Chesapeake Bay. Their reception was held at Herrington’s Yacht Club. Read more on their special day including photos from their wedding and the story of how they met, their wedding planning process, and what advice they’d give to other couples about to get married.
How They Met
Anthony and Gisela met online. She said they were so excited to meet each other that they ended up having a pre-date before our “first date”.
Anthony has the best sense of humor and can always make me belly laugh, even when I’m having a horrible day. He works hard, is genuine, and makes an excellent dog-dad! He’s the first person I want to share news with and he is my biggest cheerleader. – Gisela
The Engagement Story
Anthony proposed on New Year’s Eve. They were hanging out in pajamas, eating carryout and watching movies. Gisela said they got up to watch the ball drop and when it struck twelve, Anthony got down on one knee.
Wedding Planning Process
Anthony and Gisela took their time with the wedding planning process and were engaged for almost two years. The couple lives in Pennsylvania, Gisela said once they found Herrington on the Bay, everything fell into place. They selected most of their vendors at Herrington’s Open House event. She said the Knot’s Ultimate Wedding Planner and Organizer Binder were also organization essentials.
Big Day Recap
Gisela and Anthony got ready at the Inn at Herrington Harbour, which she said was a great stress reliever. Gisela said one of her favorite moments was walking down the aisle to the overworld theme from Legend of Zelda, which has a lot of meaning to Anthony. “As soon as he recognized the song he started tearing up, and when I turned the corner, we both started crying! I’ll never forget that feeling of having the world fade and only focusing on him,” Gisela said.
Gisela said another aspect of the wedding she loved was DJ Mike. “He was able to keep the dance floor full all night. He blended latin, pop, oldies into one seamless dance party! Seeing my husband get tossed around by my Aunts on the dance floor is a memory that will always make me laugh,” she said.
Gisela said her only regret was that she didn’t eat more pork belly when it was brought out for the late night bites.
What about the details?
Playing off the fall season, Gisele and Anthony selected a rich color palette. Her favorite color is green and his is orange. She said her florist, Flowers by Lillie brought her vision to live and did an excellent job tying everything together.
The natural beauty of the venue really played up the fall palate as well in the pictures – it was beautiful! – Gisela
