Honey’s Harvest Farm in the early morning on July 19, 2017.
Growing with the help of direct sunlight and healthy soil, Honey’s zucchinis are nearly ready to harvest.
Herrington on the Bay, is an Eco-lifestyle wedding venue located on the shore of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay, owned by Anna Chaney. Anna also owns Honey’s Harvest Farm and has been working to provide fresh local ingredients for our chefs to use in event menus. Some of Honey’s harvest this season will include: a variety of tomatoes including; Better Boys, Purple Cherokee Heirlooms, and Early Girls as well as squash, zucchini, cucumbers, beets, figs, red onions, sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, oregano, basil, and lavender.
On the farm you’ll find permaculture gardens surrounding its nine barns where something is always in bloom. From the iconic permaculture purple, yellow and white coneflowers to the bright orange blossoms of the yellow summer squash, the honey bee hives are abuzz with fresh, organic nectar.
Putting the farm’s name to good use, bees are busy making heavenly honey.
Though the farm is celebrating an abundant harvest this year, Honey’s owner, Anna Chaney, found this spot a few years ago when it was not in its prime condition. Since then Chaney has been able to slowly rehab each aspect of this farm so that it can be successful. The rehabilitation has included converting the farm from its previous state of conventional farming to a state of sustainable, permaculture farming.

Honey’s Harvest Farm is in a “sprout” stage, but there is no doubt the farm will continue to grow and provide food and fun for many generations to come!
