December 31, 2017 was the end to a year but it was just the beginning of a lifetime together for Anthony and Katy. This beautiful couple was married at Herrington on the Bay on New Year’s Eve! Read more on their Yacht Club Wedding including photos from their wedding and the story of how they met, their wedding planning process, and what advice they’d give to other couples about to get married.
How They Met
They met back in 2009 when Anthony came to support a friend’s daughter at a field hockey game, which Katy happened to be coaching. They became friends and got closer over the years. Though they’d be spending a lot of time together, he really showed how much he cared when he showed up to support Katy at her grandmother’s funeral after working 16 hours straight overnight. Everything changed after that.
The Engagement Story
Anthony and Katy became ‘official’ shortly after, and just a few six months later he asked Katy to marry him at her parents’ house with some of her family there.
Wedding Planning Process
After browsing for venues, Katy came across Herrington on the Bay. When the couple walked in, they just knew this was the place they would get married. Katy and Anthony met with Brielle their first visit.
“She answered every question we had, and really just made us feel like we did not have to worry about anything.” – Katy
Big Day Recap
Though the start to their wedding day was a bit of a roller coaster, they ended up having a beautiful candlelit ceremony, an awesome cocktail hour, dinner with outstanding food, and great music! People danced the entire night, while it was all capped off with a balloon drop and champagne toast at midnight to ring in the New Year. Not to mention a sparkler send off at 1 am.
What about the details?
Anthony and Katy decided to rock the New Year’s Eve theme and picked that date for the wedding which also happens to be their anniversary. A photo booth complete with New Year’s Eve props, a great DJ, and of course a decorated the room with clocks, candles, and sparkle.
“It really just screamed party and that is what we wanted.” – Katy
Wedding Advice
Their best wedding advice is to not stress about all the details because no one will remember them. Their guests had an amazing time, the room looked great, and people were so busy talking, drinking, and dancing they didn’t notice half the details.
