Stayce + Mike: Royal Waterfront Wedding

On July 27, 2018 Mike and Stayce tied the knot at Herrington on the Bay. Their wedding was glitz and glam with all the makings for a destination wedding right here on the Chesapeake Bay. How They Met

A mutual friend of the couple secretly played matchmaker through social media. Shortly after, they began months of communication and admiration before physically meeting one another.

“My son attended his summer camp and was fond of him before knowing we were dating. That was a huge plus for me,” – Stayce

After that, the rest is history and they knew they couldn’t live without each other.

The Engagement Story

Stayce knew he’d be popping the question soon. So, when Mike planned a weekend full of activities for them, she spent much of her time trying to guess when he was going to propose. Stayce said, “I was almost pouting by Sunday morning.” Finally, as they were leaving to go to brunch, he told her he had left something in the house, so she sat on the front porch waiting. Stayce’s son recorded as Mike fell to one knee and asked her to marry him.

Wedding Planning Process

The couple was engaged for just over 9 months but had discussed marriage months earlier so Stayce already had the date and ideas in my head. Though she did her research on etiquette, they wanted to do most of it in a non-traditional way.

“The one thing I was very keen on was a beautiful cake table and small details you couldn’t just buy off of a shelf; Etsy, Amazon, and Pinterest were my best friends.” – Stayce

Big Day Recap

Throughout the big day, there were many memories made but by far there were some that will forever be cherished. Stayce’s most emotional moment, as a bride, was actually writing her vows. She decided she was going to just “wing it” but just before the wedding she changed her mind. As she was writing, she lost it. However, the best man’s speech had them both in tears. On the contrary, forgetting her garter belt caused quite a laugh in the end.

What about the details?

The wedding wasn’t the first time their guests had seen their theme. The blush pink, gold, and ivory theme was carried on from the engagement party, bridal shower, and all the way throughout the wedding. It was complete with pink sugar flowers and macaroons. Ultimately brought to life with custom signs and plenty of gold accents.

What are you looking for the most as a married couple?

Mike and Stayce can’t wait to plan their lives together. Not to mention collecting memories and checking off their bucket list together. As they put it, “life is so short and how cool is it to have someone to laugh, cry, and be spontaneous with?”

What wedding advice do you have for other couples?

Their best wedding advice comes in the planning stages, they said to trust your gut and limit the opinion of others. As they put it, “at the end of the day, it’s your wedding and you should be happy with how it ultimately turns out.” In addition, it’s important to simply enjoy your big day.
