On August 3, 2018 Tyler and Christina said “I do” in the Polynesian Lawn at Herrington on the Bay. Read more on their special day including photos from their wedding and the story of how they met, their wedding planning process, and what advice they’d give to other couples about to get married.
How They Met
Tyler and Christina reconnected after initially meeting at her joint 16th birthday party with their mutual friend, Mike. Tyler and Christina soon hit it off. Their first date was going to see A Perfect Getaway. Leading up to the first date, she asked if he ever makes the first move. The truth was no, but even naïve, 17-year-old Tyler knew that wasn’t the best thing to say to a girl you were about to go on a date with, so, he went with “if I’m feeling confident.” While on their date, in the middle of the movie, Christina turns to him and says, “so… I guess you’re not feeling confident.” So only after that, the biggest signal anyone could ever ask for, did Tyler lean in for a kiss.
Nine years later, they were married.
The Engagement Story
Christina’s favorite place to vacation is Nags Head, NC with her family every summer. Tyler knew that was where he wanted to propose. Tyler asked Christina and her sister Jamie if they could go for a walk and take pictures along the way. Jamie, Christina, and Tyler started walking up to the beach. Jamie “forgot” her camera during this so Nina and Tyler were alone. He then got down on one knee and proposed. She said yes! Some onlookers cheered from their balcony, and the whole family came out to hug and congratulate the couple.
Wedding Planning Process
The couple had just over a year to plan the wedding. The planning party mostly consisted of their mothers and an event designer. In addition, they used the Knot binder and website as planning tools.
Big Day Recap
Their wedding was marked with many moments that made them laugh and cry. By far though, their most memorable moments were the ceremony, their first dance, and crowd surfing for the both of them.
What about the details?
The most important part of their wedding was that they were on the water and Herrington on the Bay was the best place for that. In addition, Tyler and Christina had a string quartet for the ceremony and cocktail hour and then a band for the reception, which they said was one of the best decisions they made.
What are you looking for the most as a married couple?
Tyler and Christina are looking forward to seeing the world and starting a family together.
What wedding advice do you have for other couples?
This couple has two pieces of advice for a couple planning their wedding. First, ask someone special to the couple to officiate the wedding. According to this newlywed couple, “you will remember it forever.” Second, they said that the days leading up to the wedding is longer than the wedding, so show everyone you’re with how much you appreciate them during that time.
