A cruise ship engagement, a wedding with a beach theme, and a waterfront ceremony were the highlights of Herrington’s July 1st couple, Carly Baker and James Lowe.
Our Mr. and Mrs. met in high school in 2009, fell in love, and found themselves planning a wedding with a water theme here on the Chesapeake Bay at Herrington on the Bay. On July 1, 2017, storms were predicted to grace us with their presence but they stayed at bay long enough for the wedding ceremony to be outside with a gorgeous bay backdrop!
Sea scallops wrapped in bacon and petite jumbo lump crab cakes were amongst the favorites of the butler passed appetizers. For dinner, guests were served a traditional Chesapeake themed menu of fresh field greens with garden fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, homemade dressings, herb roasted tenderloin of beef, Chicken Chesapeake (featuring more jumbo lump crabmeat!), a medley of local summer vegetables, red potatoes seasoned with fresh herbs from the Chef’s garden, and Herrington’s signature homemade dinner rolls with whipped, wholesome butter. Strawberry basil lemonade spiked with Bacardi Rum was available at the open bar as a crafted cocktail, and fun, engraved flip flops and mints were given out as favors.
As a way to further include their guests in their love story, Carly and James put out bottles in which guests could leave “messages” of encouragement and advice. It was an absolutely enchanting night “under the sea;” Herrington is honored to have helped Carly and James celebrate their wedding vows, family, and friends here at Herrington on the Bay.
